James Judge, Republican Party win Tampa Bay Chamber straw poll for Florida’s 14th Congressional District

Judge remains the Republican favorite in Florida’s 14th Congressional District primary by winning the straw poll among Republicans, and the total number of Republican votes was higher than that of Democrats.

TAMPA, Fla. – The Republican frontrunner in Florida’s 14th Congressional District, James Judge, won a straw poll conducted by the Tampa Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday by a decisive margin.

Judge won 72 out of 123 votes (58.53%) of the Republican votes. Two other Republican candidates, including one whose votes may not even count on election day, split the rest of the vote among the party.

Furthermore, the straw poll was conducted among Republicans, Democrats and Independents, and showed that overall, Republicans garnered more support than Democrats. Only 109 respondents chose a Democrat – incumbent Kathy Castor or her primary challenger Christopher Bradley – while 123 total votes were cast for the Republican candidates. That means Republicans received 53% of the vote, and Democrats only 47%.

Judge was grateful for the support and applauded the outcome.

“Kathy Castor is nervous, and she absolutely should be,” Judge said. “She’s ramped up her campaign efforts for the first time in years, because she knows that she and her Democrat colleagues in Congress have earned their future removal from office, which is coming this November.”

“I’m not surprised by this poll result at all,” said Judge. “Americans are rightfully fed up with sky-high inflation, rising costs of fuel and food, massive debt and other Democrat policies that Kathy Castor and her friends have supported. They have made life undeniably more difficult for Americans over the past two years, and when the votes are counted in November, I think they’ll come out in our favor.”

The straw poll is another positive sign for Judge, as his campaign continues to gain momentum with less than two weeks remaining before the primary election.

Judge recently earned the recommendation of the Tampa Bay Times, and has been endorsed by legendary Republican strategist Roger Stone, Congressman Paul Gosar (R-AZ), retired Republican Congressman Ted Yoho, Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri, The Tampa Police Benevolent Association, Clearwater Mayor Frank Hibbard, the Community Patriots Tampa, Chris Chambers, a former Congressional candidate and community leader, and former SBA White House Deputy Chief Matt Becker, who previously ran for Congress against an incumbent Democrat in St. Petersburg.
