ST. PETRSBURG, Fla. – Matt Becker, a former deputy chief of staff and White House Liaison for the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), has endorsed James Judge for Congress in Florida’s 14th Congressional District, according to press release issued by the campaign Monday.
“Under Biden, Pelosi and Kathy Castor’s leadership, the economy is falling off the tracks, and that includes right here in the Tampa Bay area where fuel prices and inflation are soaring, and affordable housing is further out of reach for the average person than ever before,” said Becker. “James is a smart businessman, war veteran, down-to-earth, and frankly the right choice to represent Tampa and St. Petersburg in Washington. This election, I say we vote local and elect the only candidate born-and-raised here in the Tampa Bay area.”
Becker, who served in the Administration of President George W. Bush at the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) as deputy chief of staff and White House liaison, now owns a local franchise of the national staffing agency Pridestaff, with locations in Tampa and Clearwater. Becker also ran for Congress in Florida’s 13th Congressional district in 2020 and helped lead operational efforts for the Republican National Convention host committee in Tampa in 2012.
“Receiving Matt’s public endorsement is an absolute honor. In addition to him being just a genuinely great guy, he’s also a public policy expert when it comes to the economy and small business, and he has experience serving our nation at the highest levels,” said Judge. “I look forward to putting Matt’s advice and policy expertise to use when I am elected to serve my fellow Tampa Bay area residents in Washington.”
In the last two weeks, Judge has received additional significant endorsements from Clearwater Mayor Frank Hibbard and former Congressman Ted Yoho, who served Florida’s 3rd Congressional District from 2013-2021.
“We’re only getting started. Momentum is building and I believe we have a real shot to defeat Castor and flip Tampa from blue to red,” said Judge. “To quote Tom Brady, LFG!”

Judge, who publicly announced his run for Congress earlier this year, is the only Tampa Bay area native running in the race, having been born in Clearwater, Florida. Judge graduated from Eckerd College in St. Petersburg and served in the U.S. Coast Guard in Operation Iraqi Freedom. Additionally, he served in Kabul, Afghanistan as a spokesman for the U.S. Department of Defense from 2010 until 2011. He now owns Judge Public Relations, a Tampa-based PR firm and marketing agency with clients worldwide.
Judge is married to his wife Danielle, who is the founder and owner of Rowdy’s Pet Resort, a dog daycare boarding facility near Apollo Beach. The Judges are avid animal lovers and together, they have four dogs, three cats, two horses and 10 chickens. Judge is a proud member of the NRA, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.
